Should death penalty be abolished?(2)

In this article, Who speaks for the victims of those we execute?, it strongly points out the situation. It seems that everybody wants to abolish death penalty, to cut down the number of execution. All the attention appears to be on the murderers’ right to live, instead of the victims and their family and friends. In order to emphasize the necessity to maintain the death penalty, the article presents several horrible cases of someone being murdered by the ruthless killers; making the readers hold the idea that death penalty is the only way to “punish” these killers. The article ends bitterly, saying that “the loudest voices think the death of a convicted murderer is a tragedy. Yet the deaths and suffering of countless victims is only an easily-ignored statistic.”

To me, this article completely explains the reason why I am a supporter for death penalty. I think people shouldn’t neglect the feelings of the victims, and the victims not only indicate those who were killed, but also those who have to go through mental suffering of their loss. When more and more people are starting to claim that the government shouldn’t maintain the death penalty, for they believe that killing the killers is immoral. They think that killing those murderers is meaningless, and some even said that doing so would make us, the supporters of death penalty, acting like those murderers since what we do is to “kill” as a kind of revenge. I have to say that “justice” cannot be counted as a “crime” similar to d crimes those criminals committed. If those who are against death penalty try to stand in the victims’ shoes instead of ignoring their loss and grief, they probably wouldn’t say that.
