Should unmarried couples cohabit before marrige

In this article, the Verdict on Cohabitation vs. Marriage, the author support for marriage. Nowadays, there are many people in the U.S. cohabit before marriages. Young men and women prefer cohabit before marriage than marry without cohabitation. The author holds the opinion that couples shouldn’t cohabit since cohabitation won’t help couples avoid divorcing. A research shows that cohabitation has nothing to do with remaining satisfaction or stability in marriage. The author also address eight reasons for marriage is better than cohabitation. The most important point is cohabiting couples become disappointing about marriage if they cohabit for a period.
In my opinion, I still support for cohabitation. Though the author back up his points with surveys and statistics, I thought that knowing each other well can avoid some tragedies. One can know his or her lover’s merits and shortcoming clearer before marriage. One can’t tolerant his or her habits in daily life, he or she can consider carefully and deeply if they are suitable for marriage. Besides, there is much news concerning domestic violence, for the wife has few chances to know her husband more. Only through cohabitation couples can avoid causing tragedies.
