In Legal or Not, Abortion Rates Compare, Elisabeth Rosenthal mentions a study which talks about whether it is good to ban abortion or not. Some statistics proves that more women died in the countries where abortion is illegal. And many counties are pondering to open up the policy toward abortion. However, many scientists say that the law dose not influence a woman’s decision to have an abortion. If there is an unplanned pregnancy, it does not matter if the law is restrictive or liberal. Moreover, the religious groups strongly condemn women to abort. They against murder and abortion is another kind of murder. Hence, abortion becomes a controversial issue in worldwide. Bush’s administration is starting to support some countries in Africa, in order to prevent AIDS and educate the local people the correct sex and abortion information.
There is no definitely answer toward abortion. In the concept of humanistic, it is cruel to kill a baby. However, we should think the urgent problem in long-term. In one hand, the mother has already overburdened with children, she does not have enough time to take care of the baby. In the other hand, the baby can not get a complete care. Maybe it will be much better for not only the mother but also the baby. Hence, I think the government should not let abortion illegal because it will let many women receive the abortion under an unsafe medical environment. However, we can not totally rely on abortion to reduce its rate but to make contraception.
