Does keeping a pet reflect the kindness of owners?

In Owners warned over pet obesity , the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) states that “Pet owners who overfeed animals have been warned they could cause as much suffering as those who starve them.” Currently, pet obesity had appealed to three quarters of vets of setting up “fat clinic” to podgy pets that encountered health problems, such as arthritis, high blood pressure, poor liver function and diabetes. An incident has stopped a pet owner from “keeping pets for life” as penalty causing his pets too heavy to move and needed to be carried on a makeshift stretcher after a full English breakfast. Statistically, pet owners were surprised while being told that their pets were overweight, as they were not aware of this matter earlier. RSPCA has then begun to alert pet owners to this danger.

I believe that this BBC news report would catch up the eyes of newsreaders, especially the pet owners who should be aware of the health danger of their pets from the aspect of obesity. On the other hand, RSPCA vets show much concern to the issue of pet obesity so that the pet owners could pay more attention to their pet care. The example that a pet owner was banned from keeping pets for life is clearly the sad case of neglect. For me the penalty is as fair as to punish the one who lose the qualification to keep a pet.
